"ter-ra-dici" (2014-2020) by Laura GuildA

 (20 x 20 x 20 cm)

technique: wire bending, wrapping

"ter-ra-dici" consists of a green cashmere yarn wrapped around vegetation stems inserted into a delicate wire net completely covered with thread. Inside the sphere the roots of the stems are visible. This piece depicts what is normally hidden to the naked eye. In order to allow growth, the roots must have a solid foundation to build upon. Like the Mother Earth has tried to teach mankind, the consciousness of our origins has a source that should not be forgotten. The name for this work "ter-ra-dici" is formed by three Italian words; terra which translates to Earth, radici which translates to roots and dici which means to tell me.
