"washing line" (2013) by Laura GuildA

is a video sculpture of cloth hanging on a line moving in the wind.. The found pieces of fabric were washed and hanged to dry on a washing line somewhere in the mountains. The process of drying and moving in the wind was documentated with a video. Later the washing line was installed the same way infront of a white wall with the videoprojection on it.. This creates an effect of moving and not moving cloth of the real and projected pieces of fabric.. In this installation of the work there is missing the centre piece of cloth and one can see just the projected piece of fabric, like this the play of real and unreal is emphasized.. An addition of this version is also the use of a ventilator positioned under one of the fabrics, which creates a real kind of wind, to play even more with the fact of real and illusion.
